Children’s Dentistry in Liverpool, With the CDBS for Eligible Families
Trinity Dental Care Centre looks after children of all ages at our George Street clinic in Liverpool, from a first look at baby teeth through to teenagers. We are a registered provider for the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), which means eligible children aged 0 to 17 can use up to $1,158 of dental care over two calendar years, claimed through Medicare.
Children who have calm, unhurried early visits are far more likely to keep looking after their teeth as adults. We explain things in words kids understand, go at their pace, and never make a child feel bad about a cavity.
Is Dental Care Free for Kids? How the CDBS Works
A child is eligible for the CDBS if they are aged 0 to 17 for at least one day of the year, are eligible for Medicare, and the family receives an eligible government payment such as Family Tax Benefit Part A. Services Australia normally sends a letter at the start of the year, but you do not need it.
- Covered: check-ups, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealants, fillings, root canal treatment and extractions.
- Not covered: orthodontics, cosmetic treatment and care provided in hospital.
- The balance: the $1,158 runs over two calendar years and any unused amount does not carry over after that.

Your Child’s First Visit
- A gentle start. We recommend a first visit around the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth. Early visits are short and mostly about getting used to the chair.
- A careful check. We look at the teeth, gums and bite, and take X-rays only when they are needed.
- Cleaning and protection. A gentle clean, fluoride where appropriate, and fissure sealants on the back teeth if the grooves are deep.
- Advice for home. Practical tips on brushing, snacks and drinks, thumb sucking and dummies.

- Check-ups and cleans every six months
- Fissure sealants and fluoride to prevent decay
- Tooth-coloured fillings for cavities
- Extractions of baby teeth that will not fall out on their own
- Emergency care for toothache, chipped or knocked-out teeth
Children’s Dental Emergencies
If your child knocks out an adult tooth, hold it by the crown, rinse it briefly in milk, and place it back in the socket if you can, or keep it in milk. Then call us on (02) 9822 7107 straight away. Where possible we keep same-day emergency appointments available, Monday to Saturday.
