Signs Your Wisdom Teeth May Need to Come Out

• Pain or pressure at the back of the jaw
• Red, swollen or bleeding gum behind the last molar
• A bad taste or bad breath that keeps coming back
• Food trapping around a tooth you cannot clean
• Repeated infections in the same spot

Not every wisdom tooth needs removing. If yours have come through straight and you can clean them, we will usually leave them and keep an eye on them.

What to Expect

1. X-ray and advice. We look at the position of the tooth and its roots and explain what is involved, including the cost.
2. Removal. The area is fully numbed. You will feel pressure but should not feel pain.
3. Recovery. Most people are back to normal within five to seven days. You go home with clear aftercare instructions, and we are a phone call away if you are worried.

You are told the cost before any treatment starts. We accept all health funds with on-the-spot HICAPS claims, the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) for eligible children, NSW Oral Health Fee for Service vouchers and DVA Gold and White cards.
